3 ways to increase stripping and coating production

Stripping and coating alloy wheels or other metal surfaces can be a tedious process, especially if you use a potent chemical paint stripper that can harm your skin. Traditional stripping methods require a lot of manual labor, which takes additional time, and practices such as extensive sandblasting can cause oil and dirt to stick to already-clean wheels (so you have to repeat the cleaning process over again.

The more time that each step of the stripping and coating process takes, the less profit your business realizes.

The solution for increasing production is to find products and processes that increase efficiency and limit the need to repeat steps in the process.

But these products do not just need to be fast; they need to be powerful so that you do not have to go back over the surface again and again.

How can such a product help you increase production?

1. Find a chemical solution that works well on difficult surfaces

If you work with different types of metal in a business such as a wheel refinishing operation, you need a stripping agent that works on metals from different wheel producers. For example, wheels from German cars are notoriously difficult to strip. To improve efficiency, you need a wheel stripping agent that can handle these difficult jobs without forcing you to slow your entire stripping chain down or taking laborers away to focus on these problematic wheels.

A product such as WheelStrip from GreenSolv has proven in tests that it can handle German wheels as efficiently as other wheels. One of the most prolific wheel refinishers in Eastern Canada, P. Jacques, uses the WheelStrip chemical solution in soaking tanks that can be used to treat different types of wheels as part of an automated system.

2. Use a powerful stripping agent that will not require repeating any steps

GreenSolv products, which are used for aerospace, metal parts cleaning, and powder coating in addition to wheel and rim stripping, are among the most effective on the market. Their potency means that the amount of time that the metal needs to soak in the stripping solution is limited, and it also means that laborers do not have to spend much time going over the surfaces, again and again, to remove paint or other substances manually.

A problem with chemical stripping solutions is that they lose potency after a short time. GreenSolv lasts longer than other chemical strippers and retains its strength over its lifespan. As other stripping agents get older, you do not get the same results in the same amount of time as you do when the chemicals are brand new. Furthermore, you have to stop operations altogether to change the solution completely after 15 months and again after 30 months. GreenSolv will work for more than two cycles, and it will not lose much potency, so you do not have to increase treatment time.

3. Limit manual labor

Labor takes time, and it costs money (in terms of wages). Any way that you can limit the manual work after a chemical stripping treatment will help improve your efficiency and production. Going back to the wheel refinishing example, GreenSolv’s WheelStrip requires only a few minutes of sandblasting and rinsing at the end of the stripping process. At P. Jacques, workers take five or so minutes to wash and sandblast each wheel (to improve the adhesiveness of the coating).

If you can rely on a powerful product like GreenSolv, you can increase the production of your metal stripping and coating.
