Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: The Heart of Our Process
Our paint stripping systems are built around a simple but powerful principle: reuse. By removing coatings from metal parts, we help our customers recover and reuse them in their original form. Instead of melting down coated parts—which contaminates the molten metal and reduces its quality—we enable reuse without transformation.
This aligns directly with the 3Rs of sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Reuse is prioritized because it preserves more energy, material, and capital. By helping our customers reuse metal parts, we’re cutting down on waste and reducing the need for new resources.
The Greensolv Efficiency Program (GEP)
The Greensolv Efficiency Program (GEP) is our method for helping customers maintain peak performance in their stripping solutions. Through regular sample analysis, we provide tailored recommendations to maximize chemical lifespan and maintain optimal stripping efficiency.
We recommend GEP testing at least twice per year, though customers can request it more frequently. Here’s what we analyze—and why it matters:
- Alkalinity: Indicates levels of caustic and alkaline solvents in the solution. Higher alkalinity boosts efficiency but must be kept within limits to avoid staining or damaging softer metals.
- Solvent Ratio: Our stripping solutions use dual-solvent blends that must stay balanced for optimal performance.
- Water Content: Too little or too much water can reduce effectiveness.
- Density: Correlates with paint sludge accumulation through usage. Higher density means more sludge, requiring removal.
- Temperature: Higher temps improve efficiency but increase evaporation and imbalance past 185°F.
By monitoring these factors, we can recommend our Greensolv additives and maintenance to help our customers strip more parts using fewer chemicals, which directly supports our green mission, reducing chemical consumption.
Additionally, Greensolv users can reduce chemical consumption by utilizing our G-Isotherm insulating oil. This innovation allows our customers to minimize losses from evaporation, extending the life of our chemical solutions, resulting in lower waste and lower costs.
Finally, Greensolv blends our chemical in 4 locations across North America and Europe to reduce transit distance and lower our environmental footprint.
Extending the Life of Our Equipment
Since 2019, we've been reconditioning used strip tanks to reduce waste and pollution. This reconditioning extends the lifespan of tanks and prevents old or unused tanks from degrading in the field. While this process helps us achieve or green goals, it also helps our customers;
- We offer tank exchange trade-ins to existing customers
- We provide refurbished tanks to new customers at a lower cost
This not only reduces environmental impact but makes our systems more affordable and sustainable for everyone.
Sustainable Packaging & Solvent Recycling
Our chemicals are packaged in 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon drums, and 265-gallon totes, with the larger containers being recycled and reused.
Even the solvents used in our products are part of our green initiative. We collect, distill, and reuse solvents in our production process, keeping them in circulation and out of the environment.
An Even Greener Future
Exciting green projects on the horizon for Greensolv include;
- “Smart” Tanks: Allow customers greater control and more understanding of energy consumption.
- Heating System Redesigns: A more effective way to transfer heat and alternative heating method, again reducing energy consumption.
- Paint Sludge Reuse: Convert paint sludge into heat, further reducing waste and achieving a closed-loop paint stripping system.
